Each year New Zealand celebrates National Volunteer Week to recognise and celebrate the vital contribution of New Zealand’s approximately 1.2 million volunteers in areas as diverse as social development, the economy and the environment. We celebrate volunteers and the invaluable contribution they make to our communities.

‘Live, laugh, share – volunteer’ is the theme this year, which helps capture the heart-felt appreciation we feel when people come together to build stronger, more vibrant communities through volunteer service.

Finding Volunteer Roles:

Where you volunteer depends on your own available time, as well as the community organisations’ own availability to take on a volunteer.

Find a volunteer role:

  • Through friends or family – ask around and see what group may need some help.
  • By asking groups you or your family are already associated with.
  • By contacting your regional volunteer centre – in person, by phone or via their website – see below.
  • Online through a volunteering website – see below.

Volunteer Centres:

Volunteer Centres work independently of Volunteering New Zealand (VNZ) and are your main point of contact for local and regional volunteering issues and initiatives.
Note that Volunteer Centres are not VNZ branches or regional offices.

So what are you waiting for ? get out and get amongst and always remember every little bit helps !
