Help turn leftovers into lifelines for whānau who are doing it tough. Whether you’re a pro in the kitchen or just like to eat, we’d love to have you at our kai tables.
BRING YOUR TEAM
Our corporate volunteering experiences are designed to give your team the opportunity to get to know each other better, learn about food waste and food insecurity and create real change for families across Tāmaki Makaurau.
More than 145 unique companies have rolled up their sleeves at our kai tables in the past two years.
Each person prepares groceries for about 200 meals, making a big difference in a short time.
PACK KAI BOXES
Volunteers hand-sort fresh food for distribution through community partners. You will prepare boxes of fresh fruit, veggies, dairy and eggs for young parents, those sleeping rough, asylum seekers, and mental health and social service agencies. Everyone is welcome at our kai tables.

CONSCIOUS KITCHEN
In the mornings, we prepare meal packs and cook soups, curries, quiche and more utilising the ingredients that weren’t suitable for distribution.
Each week, we prepare around 500 meals and meal kits in our Conscious Kitchen. There's always dishes to wash, produce to chop, cooked food to package, and plenty to eat.
Tuesday to Thursday 9 - 12

On Mondays, the Young Onset Dementia Collective cook together, and on Fridays our Hospitality Skills volunteers train together.
WORK SKILLS PROGRAMME
Fair Food is a great place to gain work experience in food manufacturing, warehouse logistics, or hospitality.
We run a 9 week skills training that’s perfect for people looking for something active to do while seeking employment. You’ll learn practical skills while volunteering at our kai tables.
Fair Food pays for an external certification (food safety, forkhoist, first aide, etc), provides lunch and a kai parcel, and helps with job applications.
The next group starts in February. Stop by or email us if you might be keen.
10 am - 3 pm one day a week Tuesday - Friday.
INCLUSIVE VOLUNTEERING
Each person has talents to offer our community.
We love being a place of belonging for all our friends and neighbours.
If you prefer to come with a friend or carer or find the warehouse too stimulating, there’s still plenty of help needed on other tasks.
If you would like to bring a group but aren’t sure what modifications might be needed, please stop by or email us, and we’ll do our best to say yes!
We host a banana chopping session from 1 - 3 every Tuesday with an awesome team of leaders from 249 A Supported Life (pictured left).
