Rescued Food Wins Restaurant Awards
Shared Table is the Fair Food dining series turning kai headed for landfill into award-winning experiences. For his work on the series, Tony Stewart was presented the Champion for Change award in the prestigious 2026 Cuisine Good Food Guide.
According to the guide, “Tony has brought together NZ’s leading chefs to create memorable dinners from rescued ingredients. Tony’s ability to unite the hospitality industry behind a meaningful cause has inspired chefs and diners. His resilience, generosity and unwavering belief in hospitality creates positive change and continues to leave a lasting impact.”
Tony’s journey with Fair Food began after recovering from an injury, when he found a new sense of purpose in the charity’s Conscious Kitchen where overlooked food is turned into hot meals for people in crisis. Each event brings together top chefs and mystery ingredients for an intimate fine dining experience with canapés, four courses and drink pairings. The series has directly supported 156 local families struggling with hunger.
There are still a few tickets left. MasterChef winners Kārena and Kasey Bird are bringing a modern Māori menu to Fair Food on 17 September. On 29 October, Gavin Doyle of Soul Bar and Bistro will draw on his Michelin-starred experience, paired with Giapo’s creative approach to food.
